After nearly two months of a war that killed thousands of civilians and razed Gaza's infrastructure to the ground, this event aims at providing an interdisciplinary lens to discuss Gaza in the context of the wider and the century-long "Palestine question".

The Anthropological Rise of Palestine Keywords: anthropology ethnography epistemology academia research Solidarity Palestine Palestinians Abstract: This article traces the rise of anthropological scholarship on Palestine and/or Palestinians from through the present, providing readers with a comprehensive bibliography of anthropological publications related to Palestine over that period. Drawing upon the author’s experience as a scholar of Palestine and a publicly engaged anthropologist, it accounts for the factors fueling the proliferation of this domain of knowledge production and the implications this has for representations of individual and collective Palestinian human conditions. The article argues that contemporary anthropological research and writing provide Palestinians with intellectual tools for discursive enfranchisement. Such anthropological engagement also makes possible global solidarity wherein Palestinians are recognized as epistemic equals, rendering legible the heterogeneity and complexities of Palestinian lived experiences. Women and agency Palestinian women are attributed agency in particular through two dominant frameworks. On the one hand, women can show active resistance in public spaces and can thus be classified as part of a national narrative. On the other hand, they can be framed as oppressed bodies and thus become part of a liberal feminist narrative. Women therefore become subjects by participating in forms of resistance in private as well as political spheres. Consequently, women who do not fit into those narratives are frequently not perceived as political subjects and become invisible. Due to those dominant frameworks, the role of the everyday and ordinary life gets lost, and many memories and emotions which do not fit into these narratives remain unnoticed. Hereby, Salih examined precisely those women who are attributed no place in dominant memory work, since they are only perceived as part of the private but not public and political sphere. As a result, Salih questioned how we can rethink Palestine through the desires, feelings and practices of those women who are not captured in dominant frameworks.
