RTÉ broadcaster Keelin Shanley passed away from cancer earlier this year at the age of just

She spent her last few months writing a memoir, A Light That Never Goes Out, which chronicles her life and career as well as her final reflections before her death.

Keelin's husband, Conor Ferguson, contributed to the completion of her memoir.

He joined us on The Last Word to talk about the book and how her positive spirit helped her come to terms with her illness.

Keelin Shanley's loving husband Conor Ferguson has revealed how the RTÉ broadcaster was surrounded by love in her final days.

The accomplished journalist and beloved mum of Lucy and Ben died on 8 February , in St Vincent's Hospital surrounded both of her children and Conor.

Keelin's husband very movingly finished the SixOne presenter's book, A Light That Never Goes Out, after her passing earlier this year.

'The days got simpler. We spent many, many hours lying on our bed at the top of the house, but we never made it to the end of The Sopranos,' he heartbreakingly shared.

Conor explained how the Monday after their wedding anniversary saw Keelin go into hospital to continue her treatment and shared, 'It was made clear to us that we were on a steep downward incline.'
