As a former Muslim, I believe in faith in the public square

When I first became a Christian, I looked forward to a quiet life, basking in the love and beauty of having met my Lord and Savior.
Since I spent most of my adult life deeply engrossed in political battles over one issue or another, and serving my country in ways that were quite dangerous, the prospect of serenity was quite appealing. It was not more than three months that went by before the Lord gave me the vision for my ministry so others could experience the redemptive power of Christ.
At first, I wanted to ignore the call and pretend I didn't hear it correctly. Starting a ministry and being public with my Christian faith meant I could be attacked or even physically harmed by Muslims seeking to impose the penalty of apostasy. It meant I was going back into battle. However, the Lord was relentless.

Former Muslim Finds Christ, Shares Powerful Testimony of Her Transformation
Hedieh Mirahmadi is a former Muslim who converted to Christianity. Formerly working in national security, she honed her expertise on Islam and religious extremism for working in Afghanistan and Middle Eastern affairs. A powerful encounter with the Lord redeemed her life and gave her a strong passion for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her full-time occupation is now working with ‘Resurrect Ministry,’ an online resource that utilizes the power of virtual social platforms to lead others to Christ.
In a recent podcast interview, Hedieh shared her story of how her faith transformed her entire life. Mirahmadi was a devoted Muslim for over two decades. She explains what led her to convert to Christianity, “Ultimately it was the inability to experience fulfillment in Islam. I was proud of doing things well. When I was a Muslim, I did it with the same dedication to perfection that I did within life. I prayed on time. I kept ritual washing. I wore traditional clothing. I ate Halal meat, a certain kind of meat that very conservative Muslims would eat.”

Dr. Hedieh Mirahmadi is the President and Founder of the World Organization for Resource Development and Education (WORDE), which runs the only evidence-based countering violent extremism program in the US known as the Montgomery County Model. The program was awarded the FY14 Community Policing Development Grant to Combat Violent Extremism, by the Department of Justice that will culminate in training manuals for other jurisdictions. As a world renowned expert in CVE, she is as an advisor to several US federal agencies including the Department of State, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the National Counter-Terrorism Center, and the Department of Homeland Security. Dr. Mirahmadi also serves on the Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families that supports vulnerable youth.
