Belize Participates in WIPO Heads and Ministerial Meetings on Intellectual Property for Caribbean Countries

Belize was represented at the Regional Meeting of Heads of Intellectual Property (IP) Offices of Caribbean Countries and the Ministerial Meeting on IP for Caribbean Countries held in St. Kitts and Nevis from November 2 to 6, Hon. Anthony Sylvestre, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, and Ms. Kay King, Deputy Registrar of the Belize Intellectual Property Office (BELIPO), attended the meetings which were held under the theme, “Intellectual Property (IP): Innovation to Prosperity”.
Present at the meetings were Daren Tand, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO), and Hasan Kleib, Deputy Director General of the Regional and National Development Sector.
Ministers with responsibility for IP in the region successfully concluded the meetings by discussing priority areas of IP within their jurisdictions and re-affirming their commitment to the following:
- Collaborating with WIPO in developing, formulating, updating and implementing intellectual property strategies and work plans in line with the countries’ economic

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Duta Besar Hasan Kleib, Wakil Tetap RI untuk PBB, WTO, dan Organisasi Internasional lainnya di Jenewa, setelah melalui serangkaian proses seleksi, terpilih sebagai deputi direktur jenderal Organisasi Kekayaan Intelektual Dunia (WIPO).
Pemilihan dilaksanakan pada sesi Sidang Coordination Committee WIPO di Jenewa, Swiss, pada Kamis, saat empat deputi direktur jenderal yang baru disahkan oleh seluruh negara anggota WIPO secara aklamasi.
Selain Indonesia, deputi direktur jenderal WIPO yang baru terpilih berasal dari Amerika Serikat, Prancis, dan China.

Hasan Kleib was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary/ Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations, World Trade Organization, and other International Organizations in Geneva in March
Prior to his assignment in Geneva, he was Deputy Minister/Director General for Multilateral Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) from January until March , after finishing his tenure as Ambassador / Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York from August to December During his assignment in the Permanent Mission of Indonesia in New York, Hasan Kleib held position as Ambassador / Deputy Permanent Representative (January July ) after having served as Ambassador / Deputy Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations Security Council (January December ).
Hasan Kleib’s first exposure to the workings of the United Nations in New York came twenty-six years ago, during his first foreign assignment as Third/Second Secretary for Political Affairs at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia (August –July ). His other foreign assignment was as Head/Counselor for the Political Division at the Embassy
