Shivmangal Singh ‘Suman’ was a noted Hindi poet and critic of 20th century. He was born on August 5, in Jhagarpur, UP and died in Ujjain on November 27, aged He has worked as the Vice Chancellor of Vikram University of Ujjain during Vice-President of Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, Lucknow and the President, Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi are other leading positions held by Suman. He was the Executive President, Kalidas Academy, Ujjain till his death. In Banaras University honoured him honorary doctorate. He received Padma Shri in and Padma Bhushan in His noted works are Mitti Ki Baarat, Hillol and Jeevan Ke Gaan.
Suman was born on August 5, at Jhagarpur, Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh. He earned a M.A. and Ph.D. in Hindi from Benaras Hindu University.
