Papa Francisco nombra a nuevo nuncio para Costa Rica
Monseñor Mark Gerard Miles será el nuevo nuncio apostólico para Costa Rica.
La madrugada de este martes se confirmó el nombramiento del nuevo representante del Vaticano en el país, nombrado por el papa Francisco.
Monseñor nació en Gibraltar, Reino Unido, el 13 de mayo de ; tiene 57 años de edad y 28 de haber sido ordenado sacerdote.
Es doctor en Derecho Canónico, informó la Conferencia Episcopal de Costa Rica, al confirmar la noticia.
De Togo a América
&#;El 1 de julio de ingresó al servicio diplomático de la Santa Sede y trabajó en las Representaciones Pontificias de Ecuador y de Hungría, en la Sección para los Asuntos Generales de la Secretaria de Estado de la Santa Sede y en la Nunciatura Apostolica en los Estados Unidos de América (Observador Permanente de la Santa Sede ante la Organización de Estados Americanos)&#;, agregó el comunicado oficial.
Antes de ser designado para Costa Rica, ya ha recibido dos nombramientos por el papa Francisco. El primero de ellos, el 5 de febrero de , como nuncio apostólico en Benín y, el segundo, el 2 de marzo de en Togo, &#;por lo cual recibió la Ordenación Episcopal el 25 de abril

Le Vatican a nommé Mgr Mark Gérard Miles comme nonce apostolique au Togo et au Bénin. Jusqu’en février, Mgr Miles a été conseiller de la nonciature et il était auparavant observateur permanent du Saint-Siège auprès de l’Organisation des États américains (O.S.A.).
Né le 13 mai à Gibraltar, en Grande-Bretagne Mark, Gerard Miles a été ordonné prêtre le 14 septembre
Diplômé en droit canonique avec une licence en théologie, il est entré au service de la diplomatie du Saint-Siège le 1er juillet et il a travaillé dans les représentations pontificales en Équateur, en Hongrie et à la section des affaires générales de la Secrétairerie d’État.
Le nouveau nonce apostolique a par ailleurs accompagné le pape François comme interprète dans de nombreux voyages.
Il remplace, dans ces deux pays d’Afrique de l’ouest, Mgr Brian Udaigwe, désormais nonce apostolique au Sri Lanka.

APPOINTMENT OF MONSIGNOR MARK MILES
Monsignor Mark Miles, who is a Priest of the Diocese of Gibraltar and currently serving at the Vatican Secretariat of State, has been appointed by the Holy Father, Pope Francis, as Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the Organization of American States. The aim of this Organization is to build an order of peace and justice on the American continent, promote solidarity, development and cooperation among the States of the region, support democracy and protect human rights.
On hearing of the good news, Bishop Zammit said: “We congratulate Mgr. Miles on such a prestigious appointment. All the priests and faithful of the Diocese join me in praying for Mgr. Mark, commending him and his new ministry to the intercession of Our Lady of Europe”.
